Setting the Stage
Mimes are an effective way to grab a crowd's attention.
We usually set up in a piazza in the evening, a time when many Italians
gather to eat and socialize. The two most popular mime routines
are "The King of Hearts" and "The Redeemer"
which were developed by YWAM ministries. Both acts give an intense,
in-depth presentation of the Gospel. After a mime routine is finished,
one of the performers will step forward and give a brief verbal
presentation of the Gospel, which is normally translated by a team
member. The crowd is then offered the opportunity to come forward
and receive free literature, such as the Gospel of John. It is at
this point that the Italian Christians go to work finding people
who are interested in learning more about what they have just witnessed.
Americans team members have an opportunity to share their faith
to English-speaking Italians or through the help of a translator.
Another effective way to present the gospel is through chalk
talks or concerts.
